I bought a used Elkhart sax in generally good condition, however fully functioning for $800. It was patented in 1920. I received a good quality Meyer mouthpiece and a good comfortable neck strap along with it. The high register key has failed for some reason ( unable to close ) So I put paper underneath the key to support it. - This is like 9 months after buying the sax. It played fine until 2 months later when I was at a saxophone lesson. We came across a leak and the tuner on the neck doesn't work and the cork on the neck is too reseeded to even properly adjust a small chamber mouthpiece so the instrument is always flat because the mouthpiece is always in. Now here is the thing. My sax teacher offered to take it into the store and repair it. All the problems. The pad replacements along with the cork on the neck and the tuner repair. This apparently totals up to $ 300 !!!! So after just 11 months of playing this thing I have to pay $1100 - ( Sax + Repairs and all the problems fixed ) I never knew about them when I bought it ! I bought of bought Kenny G's limited edition brand of saxes in Canada for $ 1000 instead of that price. Are my overpaying ?! I cant afford this ! HELP... Read More »
